A Birthday Flyby

First things first... Happy Easter :)

There are oodles of bunnies around at the minute and I myself have featured them on a few cards and I needed a rest from cute and cuddly and have opted for cute and scaly for todays card.

A new challenge is open at Fusion and for this card I've managed to fuse both the inspiration photo and sketch into one card (unusual for me).  OK, the photo doesn't feature a dragon, it features a bunny so I picked out the colours.

I stencilled the clouds onto a separate piece of cardstock and cut out the triangle, as I don't measure anything, I randomly cut my card at angles then reassembled.  Scorch, my newly named MFT Magical Dragon has been coloured using alcohol pens and die cut using the matching dies.  The clouds are MB puffy clouds and just lightly inked before attaching with a mixture of tape and 3D foam, the sentiment is from the stamp set.

Yellow Tulips

Nothing says Easter/Spring to me more than the colour yellow, daffodils or tulips.  I love seeing these darling flowers swaying in the Spring breeze and they always seem to raise a smile no matter how grey the skies are.

The tulip stamps are from Clearly Besotted that were heat embossed in white then coloured using alcohol markers and fussy cut out.  The background is made using weathered wood distress ink and just die cut with a stitched rectangle.  I added a strip of washi tape and sentiment to finish.

Just One Bunny

Just one bunny this time and this is for my youngest.  As per usual it ended up very different to how I'd envisaged it looking and I've noticed it fits into a few challenges so that's always a bonus.

I've taken inspiration for the layout from the Fusion sketch, just rotated it.  Also it fits into The Library challenge which is Watership Down and I used a bunny - a definite requirement for that challenge and the feathers represent Kehaar the gull, who after a broken wing took refuge at Watership Down.

Once again, I've used scraps of mopped up Distress Ink to cut the feathers and the frame.  The bottom feather has been topped with vellum that I've embossed to give a more muted effect.  I stamped the bunny from a Stampin Up set in vintage photo, then roughly pulled the colour out with water into the white parts.  Added a little hill to ground him and used a tiny stitched square die.  The sentiment is gold embossed, the button is gorgeous... it has little holes in it like its been eaten by woodworm, it hasn't but its so cute and I added a bit of string just for interest.

A close up of the sweetest button ever and I'm pretty sure somewhere in my house someone has a shirt or a cardigan with a button missing because this was the only one I could find and I have been known to remove pretties from things!

Three Bunnies

A very quick card to share, I needed to keep it simple as apparently teenage boys don't do cute/pastel Easter cards... or mornings!

I had planned to use Chocolate Bunnies patterned paper by Rusty Pickle but I have absolutely no idea where the safe place is that I've put them which kinda threw a spanner in the works.  I decided to have a rummage through my 'urgh, hate that' box where I keep all my mishaps (also known as complete cock-ups) and found some cardstock spritzed with blue Glimmer Mist, I also found some bits that I'd mopped up with after using Distress Inks.  I cut the scraps slightly bigger than the bunnies using the die as a guide and adhered them on the reverse and added a blue sentiment to finish.

Just Dropping in to Say...

I'm giving my favourite stamp another outing, this time he's well behaved...

I bought this circle die some time ago and when it arrived, it was a lot smaller than I realised but it was sweet and I thought it looked like a sunburst so that was where I started and backed it with a nice happy yellow.  I added some clouds subtly inked with light blue.

The fox was coloured with alcohol markers and then fussy cut and positioned as if he's just dropped onto the cloud to say 'Happy Birthday'.  The sentiment is My Sentiments Exactly and comes with the fox.

The Hobbit or is it?

A new challenge has started over at The Library and this time its The Hobbit, you can either be inspired by the book cover, title or the story.

I think the design of the cover is very naive and just a little bit dark, then again it is about a Hobbit.  In light of that I decided to make an alternative cover trying to replicate the look with a fun twist...

Ta Dah!

Its The Hoppit.  The background has been done using various dies as templates and spritzing with Glimmer Mist  Just like the book I added in black pen lines but keeping it simple.  I added a small border around the main image, coloured it green and added matching symbols from the book.  The frog is from a very old Penny Black stamp set and he was just masked off then coloured with greens.  The sentiment is computer generated and the font is called Requiem from DaFont.

I'm not completely happy with this card but I had fun making it and it was nice to use some very old stash.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

A little early but there are a few challenges with luck/St Patrick's Day as the theme for this coming week/fortnight including Fusion and Addicted to CAS.

I started this card by stamping the little fox come leprechaun first then with a stamping block I drew pencil markers on it to avoid the image and coloured the green and orange with Zig watercolour pens direct to the stamp block then spritzed with a generous amount of water.  I cleaned off the excess water in the 'white space', masked the fox (just in case) and stamped to create the Irish flag.  Now because the middle stripe is white, it looked a little odd so I made my own stencil using a tiny heart die and hand drew the stalk, cut out with a sharp knife and sponged little shamrocks falling down.

The fox was coloured using alcohol markers, to lift the card a bit I added some Wink to each one of the shamrocks, coloured some white pearls in Sharpie black and finished off with the sentiment.

Happy Mother's Day #2

Another Mother's Day card to share, its only a week away so I wanted to make sure I had my cards done.

Actually this is number three but thanks to my husband and his idea, albeit a late idea I had to finish off the original number two and make this one.  I was just about to stamp my sentiment horizontally on number two and he looked at me and said 'that would make a nice stem to a flower' BOOM - I had to run with it and you'll see what I mean when you see the card.

Now you see it, needless to say someone is feeling a little smug and I'm put out it didn't even cross my mind lol.  I stamped the sentiment and the flower with Versamark and embossed it in white.  I coloured the image with my Crayola Pro pencils and after trying it in pink, yellow and orange - I finally settled on blue.  The butterfly is also coloured blue but because its tiny and after embossing it, it left little room for the colour to show through.

I stencilled white splodges around the flower, distressed the edges and a touch of Wink finished off this card.
